i noticed there are two different types of humulin r.. u-500 (500 units per ml) and U-100 (100 units per ml).
Which one is the one used for our purpose. U-100 right??

I have only used the 100 iu / ml. Seems like 500 iu / ml would be too hard to measure accurately.

Exactly. I have only seen and used 100 also. If you want 10 IU, it is going to be 10 ticks with 100, and only 2 with 500, so I would stay the hell away from it. Diabetics are looking for 40+ IU per shot, so it wouldn't be that difficult for them...
100 is the only one I have ever seen or used. I'd stick with it.

I have only heard of 500iu/ml being used in hospitals in extreme hyperglycemic situations in which the patient went into diabetic shock. As was already stated, this is far to concentrated to get an accurate dosing in a typical insulin syringe. However, they make specialized syringes for using this concentration of insulin.
